মেডিকেল টার্মিনেশন অফ প্রেগন্যান্সি অ্যাক্ট অনুযায়ী গর্ভাবস্থার ২৪ সপ্তাহের মধ্যে গর্ভপাতের (Abortion) অধিকার রয়েছে সমস্ত মহিলার। এক্ষেত্রে অন্তঃসত্ত্বা বিবাহিত বা অবিবাহিত যাি হোক না কেন এই নিয়ম সবার জন্যই সমান। জানিয়ে দিল সুপ্রিম কোর্ট।

এই প্রসঙ্গে বৃহস্পতিবার সুপ্রিম কোর্ট রায় দেয় যে, সমস্ত মহিলাই নিরাপদ ও আইনি গর্ভপাতের অধিকারী। শীর্ষ আদালত আরও যোগ করেছে যে বিবাহিত মহিলার জোরপূর্বক গর্ভধারণকে গর্ভপাতের উদ্দেশ্যে ধর্ষণ হিসাবে গণ্য করা যেতে পারে।
