গোটা দেশে জনজাতি গোষ্ঠীভুক্ত মানুষদের গৌরবোজ্জ্বল ইতিহাস এবং সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহ্যকে স্বীকৃতি দিতে ভগবান বীরসা মুন্ডার জন্মদিন ১৫ নভেম্বরকে জনজাতি গৌরব দিবস হিসেবে উদযাপন করা হয়।
দেশজুড়ে আদিবাসী সমাজের কাছে ভগবান হিসেবে পরিচিত বিরসা মুন্ডা । ব্রিটিশ উপনিবেশ শক্তির শোষণ ও বঞ্চনার বিরুদ্ধে লড়াই করে তিনি যে ‘উলগুলান’ (বিপ্লব)-এর ডাক দিয়েছিলেন তার ফলে এক আন্দোলনের সূচনা হয়। তাই গোটা দেশে জনজাতি গোষ্ঠীভুক্ত মানুষদের গৌরবোজ্জ্বল ইতিহাস এবং সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহ্যকে স্বীকৃতি দিতে ভগবান বীরসা মুন্ডার জন্মদিন ১৫ নভেম্বরকে জনজাতি গৌরব দিবস হিসেবে উদযাপন করা হয়।
জন্মদিনের সকালে দিল্লির সংসদ ভবন কমপ্লেক্সে আদিবাসী স্বাধীনতা সংগ্রামী বিরসা মুন্ডাকে পুষ্পস্তবক অর্পণ করলেন উপ-রাষ্ট্রপতি জগদীপ ধনখর, লোকসভার স্পিকার ওম বিড়লা, সংসদীয় বিষয়ক মন্ত্রী প্রহ্লাদ জোশী এবং অন্যরা।
