চীনের সঙ্গে দক্ষিণ-পূর্ব এশীয় দেশগুলির আঞ্চলিক বিবাদের প্রেক্ষাপটে মার্কিন রাষ্ট্রপতি জো-বাইডেন, হোয়াইট হাউসে জাপান ও ফিলিপিন্সের নেতৃবৃন্দের সঙ্গে প্রথম বারের মত ত্রিপাক্ষিক একটি বৈঠকে মিলিত হয়েছেন। বৈঠকের পর এক যৌথ বিবৃতিতে বলা হয়েছে, সমান অংশীদার ও বিশ্বস্ত বন্ধু এই তিনটি দেশ, অবাধ ও মুক্ত ভারত – প্রশান্ত মহাসাগরীয় অঞ্চল এবং আন্তর্জাতিক আইনের ওপর ভিত্তি করে রচিত শৃঙ্খলার অভিন্ন দৃষ্টিভঙ্গীর অংশীদার । আগামী দশকগুলিতেও এই দৃষ্টিভঙ্গী নিয়েই এগোনোর অঙ্গীকার করেছে তারা।
দক্ষিণ চীন সাগরে বেজিং-এর বিপজ্জনক এবং আগ্রাসী আচরণ নিয়ে তিন দেশের নেতৃবৃন্দ গভীর উদ্বেগ প্রকাশ করেন।ওই এলাকায় দখল কায়েম করার বে-আইনী দাবি এবং সেই দাবি রক্ষায় চীনের সামরিক তৎপরতা বৃদ্ধিতেও তারা উদ্বিগ্ন বলে জানিয়েছেন মার্কিন রাষ্ট্রপতি বাইডেন, ফিলিপিন্সের রাষ্ট্রপতি ফার্দিনান্দ মার্কোস জুনিয়ার এবং জাপানের প্রধানমন্ত্রী ফুমিও কিশিদা।
