বাংলাদেশের অর্থনীতি সুদ পরিশোধ করতে গিয়ে সমস্যায় পড়েছে বলে সেদেশের অর্থমন্ত্রক সূত্রে জানা গেছে। চলতি আর্থিক বছরের প্রথম চার মাসে রাজস্ব ব্যয়ের অর্দ্ধেকেরও বেশি সুদ দিতে চলে গেছে। অর্থনৈতিক বিশেষজ্ঞরা জানিয়েছেন, সেদেশের বৈদেশিক ঋণের পরিমাণ ১০ হাজার কোটি ডলারেরও বেশি, যার ওপর চড়া হারে সুদ দিতে হয়। রাজস্ব আদায় এবং বিদেশী মু্দ্রা সঞ্চয়ের পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে বাংলাদেশের অর্থনীতিতে আয় ক্ষমতা ক্রমশ কমছে।বাংলাদেশের বিদেশ বিষয় উপদেষ্টা তৌহিদ হোসেন চীনের বিদেশমন্ত্রী ওয়াং ই-কে সুদের হার হ্রাস এবং চীন থেকে নেওয়া ঋণ পরিশোধের সময় ২০ থেকে বাড়িয়ে ৩০ বছর করার অনুরোধ জানান। পরে চীন হলো, বাংলাদেশের চতুর্থ বৃহত্তম ঋণদানকারী দেশ।
