২০১৪ সালের লোকসভা নির্বাচনের পর এই প্রথম কংগ্রেস প্রায় ১০০টির মতো আসনে জিততে চলেছে।গত ২০১৯ সালের লোকসভা নির্বাচনে ৫২টি এবং ২০১৪ সালে মাত্র ৪৪টি আসনে জয় পেয়েছিল ভারতের প্রাচীন রাজনৈতিক দল কংগ্রেস। তার আগের নির্বাচনে (২০০৯ সালে) কংগ্রেস তখন ইউনাইটেড প্রগ্রেসিভ অ্যালায়েন্সের (UPA) নেতৃত্বে ২০৬টি আসন জিতেছিল।
এই জয়ের ফলে দেশজুড়ে কংগ্রেস কর্মীরা মেতে উঠেছেন উৎসবে। উৎসবের মাঝে দিল্লির সদর দফতরে এলেন রাহুল গান্ধী ও প্রিয়াঙ্কা গান্ধী। সাংবাদিক সম্মেলন করলেন রাহুল ।

কংগ্রেস সংসদীয় দলের চেয়ারপার্সন সোনিয়া গান্ধী, কংগ্রেস সভাপতি মল্লিকার্জুন খাড়গে, এবং দলের নেতা রাহুল গান্ধী করলেন সাংবাদিক সম্মেলন।

কারা দেশের মসনদে বসবেন এবং জেডিইউ এবং টিডিপি-কে জোটে ডাকা হবে কিনা সেই প্রশ্নে সাংবাদিক সম্মেলনে রাহুল গান্ধী বলেন - আগামীকাল আমাদের জোটের শরিকদের সঙ্গে বৈঠক করব। সেখানে এসব প্রশ্ন উঠবে ও উত্তর দেওয়া হবে। আমাদের জোটের শরিকদের জিজ্ঞাসা না করে আমরা কোনো বিবৃতি দেব না।"
