আমেঠি প্রার্থী তালিকা প্রকাশের পরেই কংগ্রেসের সমালোচনা সরব বিজেপি শিবির। এদিন বিজেপি প্রার্থী তথা কেন্দ্রীয় মন্ত্রী স্মৃতি ইরানি (Smriti Irani) বলেন, "আমরা অতিথিদের আমেঠিতে স্বাগত জানাচ্ছি। কংগ্রেস আগেই নিজেদের হার স্বীকার করে নিয়েছে। ১৯ এর নির্বাচনে হারের পর এবারের গান্ধী পরিবারের কেউ আমেঠি থেকে ভোটে না দাঁড়ানোয় এটাই প্রমাণ যে কংগ্রেস ভোটের আগেই হেরে গিয়েছে। যদি ওনাদের মনে হতো যে এখানে জয় পাওয়ার কোনও সুযোগ রয়েছে তাহলে প্রক্সির বদলে নিজেরা লড়ত"।
