নিখিল গুপ্তা ইস্যুতে এবার মুখ খোলা হল বিদেশ মন্ত্রকের তরফে। বৃহস্পতিবার সংবাদমাধ্যমের সাক্ষাৎকারে হাজির হয়ে বিদেশ মন্ত্রকের মুখপাত্র অরিন্দম বাগচি (Arindam Bagchi) বলেন, বর্তমানে এক ভারতীয় নাগরিক (Indian) চেক রিপাবলিকে রয়েছেন। চেক রিপাবলিক পুলিশের হেফাজতে তিনি রয়েছেন। মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের কাছে এ বিষয়ে ওই ভারতীয় নাগরিককে প্রত্যার্পণের আর্জি জানানো রয়েছে। তবে মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে এখন প্রত্যার্পণের আর্জি মুলতুবি রয়েছে। চেক রিপাবলি পুলিশের হেফাজতে যে ব্যক্তি রয়েছেন, তাঁকে প্রয়োজন মত এবং সুযোগ অনুযায়ী কনস্যুলারের সহযোগিতা পাঠানো হবে বলে জানানো হয় অরিন্দম বাগচির তরফে।
