হাওয়াইয়ের মাউইতে ক্রমশ ভয়াবহ হচ্ছে দাবানল পরিস্থিতি। মাউইতে দাবানলের জেরে শুক্রবার ৫৩ জনের মৃত্যুর খবর মেলে। তবে সময় যত গড়াচ্ছে, তত বাড়ছে মৃত্যুর সংখ্যা। বনাঞ্চল যখন হু হু করে জ্বলছে, সেই সময় মাউইতে আরও ১৭ জনের প্রাণহানি হয়েছে বলে নতুন করে খবর মিলছে। ইতিমধ্যেই হাওয়াইতে দাবানলের গ্রাসে প্রায় ১৭০০ বাড়ি। মানুষ যে যেখানে পারছেন, পালাতে শুরু করেছেন প্রাণ হাতে। কেই কেউ সমুদ্রে ঝাঁপ দিচ্ছেন আগুনের হাত থেকে বাঁচতে। ফলে মার্কিন উপকূলরক্ষী বাহিনী এক নাগাড়ে কাজ করছে, সমুদ্র থেকে মানুষের প্রাণ বাঁচাতে।
