তীব্র ভূমিকম্পে কেঁপে উঠল তুরস্ক। সোমবার মধ্যরাতে সিনদিরগি (Sindirgi) শহরে ভূমিকম্প অনুভূত হয়। রিখটার স্কেলে কম্পনের মাত্রা ছিল ৬.১। তিন মাসের ব্যবধানে এই নিয়ে দ্বিতীয়বার ভূমিকম্প হলো তুরস্কে। প্রবল কম্পনে একাধিক বাড়ি ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছে বলে জানা গিয়েছে। তবে প্রাথমিক ভাবে হতাহতের কোনও খবর মেলেনি।

তুরস্কের দুর্যোগ ও জরুরি ব্যবস্থাপক বিষয়ক সংস্থা জানিয়েছে, ভূমিকম্পের উৎসস্থল ছিল ভূমি থেকে ৫.৯৯ কিলোমিটার গভীরে। বালিকেসরি প্রদেশের সিনদিরগি শহরের পাশাপাশি তুরস্কের অর্থনৈতিক রাজধানী হিসাবে খ্যাত ইস্তানবুল এবং পর্যটন শহর ইজমিরেও কম্পন অনুভূত হয়। আতঙ্কে অনেকেই বাড়ি থেকে বেরিয়ে আসেন।
A magnitude 6.1 earthquake shook western Turkey in the wee hours of Tuesday, causing at least three buildings that were damaged in a previous tremor to collapse.
There were no immediate reports of casualties.
