অবশেষে আগামীকাল থেকে গঙ্গার নীচ থেকে সাধারণের জন্য গড়াবে মেট্রোর চাকা (East West Metro)। প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদি (Narendra Modi) উদ্বোধন করবে ইস্ট ওয়েস্ট মেট্রোর এই অংশটি। এতদিন সেক্টর ফাইভ থেকে শিয়ালদহ অবধি চলছিল এই লাইনের মেট্রো। কিন্তু ৬ মার্চ থেকে আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে চালু হবে হাওড়া ময়দান (Howrah Maidan) থেকে এসপ্ল্যানেড (Esplanade) পর্যন্ত মেট্রো রুট। আর এর মাধ্যমে কলকাতা তো বটেই দেশের সর্বপ্রথম আন্ডারওয়াটার মেট্রো রেলের সাক্ষী থাকবে গোটা ভারতবাসী।
