২৬ এপ্রিল, শুক্রবার রাজ্যের তিন আসনে চলছে ভোটগ্রহণ পর্ব। লোকসভা নির্বাচনের দ্বিতীয় দফায় দার্জিলিং, রায়গঞ্জ এবং বালুরঘাটে ভোট চলাকালীন মালদায় প্রচারে এলেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদী (Narendra Modi)। মালদা উত্তরে বিজেপি প্রার্থী খগেন মুর্মু। মালদা দক্ষিনে বিজেপি পার্থী শ্রীরূপা মিত্র চৌধুরী। দুই প্রার্থীর সমর্থনে শুক্রবার পুরাতন মালদায় প্রচারে আসেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী (Modi in Malda)। মালদার জগৎ বিখ্যাত 'আম' এবং 'মাখানার' প্রসঙ্গ তুলে তৃণমূলকে ঠেসলেন মোদী। বললেন, মালদার চাষিদের উৎপাদিত আম এবং মাখানা বিশ্ব বিখ্যাত। চাষিদের আয় বাড়ানোর লক্ষ্যে এখানে খাদ্য প্রক্রিয়াকরণ শিল্প স্থাপন করতে চায় কেন্দ্র। তবে প্রধানমন্ত্রীর অভিযোগ, সেই কেন্দ্রীয় প্রকল্পে রাজ্য সরকার নিজেদের অংশ দাবি করছে।
