পুজোর পর মর্মান্তিক ছবি ধরা পড়ছে উত্তরবঙ্গে। দার্জিলিং (Darjeeling Flood), জলপাইগুড়ি, আলিপুরদুয়ারে ভয়াবহ বন্যা পরিস্থিতি। জলে ভাসছে ডুয়ার্স। জলদাপাড়া জঙ্গলেও একই অবস্থা। প্লাবিত জলঢাকা নদী। আর সেই নদীতেই ভাসতে দেখা গেল গন্ডারকে। কোনওমতে সে বন্যার জল পেরিয়ে ডাঙায় উঠে পড়ে। সূত্রের খবর, ২৭ নম্বর জাতীয় সড়কের শীল তোর্সা সেতু কাছের এই ঘটনাটি ঘটেছে। অন্যদিকে, নকশাবাড়ির মেচি নদীতে তলিয়ে গিয়েছে একটি হস্তিশাবক। এথনও পর্যন্ত অসংখ্য বন্যপ্রাণীর মৃত্যু হয়েছে। যদিও সংখ্যাটি এখনও প্রকাশ করেনি প্রশাসন। উদ্ধারকারী দল অবশ্য উদ্ধারকাজে হাত লাগিয়েছে।
