শনিবার ব্যাডমিন্টন এশিয়া চ্যাম্পিয়নশিপের পুরুষ ডাবলসের ফাইনালে উঠেছেন ভারতের শীর্ষ জুটি সাত্ত্বিকসাইরাজ রাঙ্কিরেড্ডি ও চিরাগ শেট্টি। ১৯৬৫ সালে দীনেশ খান্নার পর এই প্রথম কোনও ভারতীয় জুটি সিঙ্গলসের ফাইনালে উঠেছেন। সেমিফাইনালের দ্বিতীয় গেমের মাঝপথেই বিদায় নেন টোকিও অলিম্পিক চ্যাম্পিয়ন চাইনিজ তাইপের লি ইয়াং ও ওয়াং চি-লিন। অন্ধ্রপ্রদেশের অমলাপুরমের ২২ বছরের সাত্ত্বিকসাইরাজ রাঙ্কিরেড্ডি এবং ২৫ বছরের মুম্বইয়ের চিরাগ শেট্টি প্রথম গেমে ২১-১৮ গেমে জিতেছিলেন। পুরুষদের ডাবলসে ৫২ বছর পর পদক নিশ্চিত করে এই জুটি। কোয়ার্টার ফাইনালে ইন্দোনেশিয়ার অভিজ্ঞ জুটি মহম্মদ আহসান ও হেন্দ্রা সেতিয়াওয়ানকে হারিয়ে পদক নিশ্চিত করে তাঁরা। ১৯৬২ সালে এশিয়ান চ্যাম্পিয়নশিপ শুরু হওয়ার পর থেকে এখনও পর্যন্ত মাত্র একটি সোনা জিতেছে ভারত। ১৯৬৫ সালে পুরুষদের সিঙ্গলসে দীনেশ খান্না সোনা জিতেছিলেন।
