ভারতে ধরা পড়ল মাঙ্কিপক্সের (Monkeypox) তৃতীয় সংক্রমণ। এবারও সেই কেরল। সংযুক্ত আরব আমিরশাহি (UAE) থেকে কেরলের মাল্লাপুরমে এক ব্যক্তি ফেরেন গত ৬ জুলাই। ৬ জুলাই মাল্লাপুরমে ফেরার পর বছর ৩৫-এর ওই ব্যক্তির শরীরে মাঙ্কিপক্সের উপসর্গ ধরা পড়ে। ১৩ থেকে ১৫ জুলাইয়ের মধ্যে মাল্লাপুরমের ওই ব্যক্তির শরীরে মাঙ্কিপক্সের সমস্ত উপসর্গ ধরা পড়ে। এরপরই বিদেশ ফেরৎ ওই ব্যক্তিকে মঞ্জরি মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়। বীণা জর্জ জানান, মাঙ্কিপক্সে আক্রান্ত ব্যক্তির পরিবারের লোকজনকেও কড়া নজরদারি রাখা হয়েছে।
