ভোজপুরি গায়ক পবন সিংকে (Pawan Singh) আসানসোল (Asansol) লোকসভা কেন্দ্র থেকে প্রার্থী করানো নিয়ে কড়া সমালোচনার মুখে পড়ে রাজ্য বিজেপি। এমনকী দলের অন্দরেও অনেকে এই সিদ্ধান্তের বিপক্ষে ছিল। মূলত, বাঙালী বিদ্বেষী এবং মহিলাদের নিয়ে অশ্লীল গান করার জন্য তাঁকে অপছন্দ অনেকের। আর সেই কারণে এই বিতর্ককে কাজে লাগিয়ে বিজেপি বাঙালি বিরোধী প্রচারও শুরু করেছিল তৃণমূল। আর তাই দেখে তড়িঘড়ি আসানসোলের প্রার্থীপদ থেকে সরে দাঁড়ান ভোজপুরি গায়ক। এই নিয়ে মঙ্গলবার দিল্লিতে গিয়ে জেপি নাড্ডার (JP Nadda) সঙ্গে বৈঠক করেন। বৈঠক শেষে তিনি জানান, "মিটিং সফল হয়েছে। আমি আমার মতামত দলকে জানিয়ে দিয়েছি।"
