শুক্রবার ভোরে আফগানিস্তানের দ্বিতীয় বৃহত্তম শহর কান্দাহার তালিবানের দখলে চলে এসেছে৷ সবমিলিয়ে ১২টি প্রাদেশিক রাজধানী এখন তালিবানের গ্রাসে৷ কাবুল থেকে মাত্রা ১৩০ কিলোমিটার দূরে সেনা তাঁবুতে চলছে বিক্ষিপ্ত যুদ্ধ৷
আফগানিস্তানে ক্রমশ শক্তি বাড়াচ্ছে তালিবান। তারা আফগান রাজধানীর দিকে দ্রুত অগ্রসর হচ্ছে। তাই কাবুলে মার্কিন দূতাবাসের কর্মীদের ঘরে ফেরাতে বাইডেন প্রশাসন আফগানিস্তানে ৩ হাজার সেনা মোতায়েন করছে। কাবুলের হামিদ কারজাই আন্তর্জাতিক বিমানবন্দরে মোতায়েন করা হবে সেনা। পেন্টাগনের মুখপাত্র জন কিরবি বৃহস্পতিবার এক সাংবাদিক বৈঠকে একথা জানিয়েছেন।
