রাষ্ট্রসঙ্ঘে পাকিস্তানকে কড়া জবাব দিল ভারত। রাষ্ট্রসঙ্ঘের নিরাপত্তা পরিষদে নারী, শান্তি ও নিরাপত্তা বিষয়ক উন্মুক্ত বিতর্কে রাষ্ট্রসঙ্ঘে ভারতের স্থায়ী প্রতিনিধি পার্বথানেনী হরিশ (Parvathaneni Harish) বলেন, "প্রতি বছর, আমাদের দুর্ভাগ্যবশত আমাদের দেশের বিরুদ্ধে, বিশেষ করে জম্মু ও কাশ্মীরের বিরুদ্ধে, যে ভারতীয় ভূখণ্ড তারা লোভ করে, পাকিস্তানের বিভ্রান্তিকর তিরস্কার শুনতে হয়। নারী, শান্তি ও নিরাপত্তা এজেন্ডায় আমাদের অগ্রণী রেকর্ড নিখুঁত এবং অক্ষত।"
পি হরিশ বলেছেন, "যে দেশ নিজস্ব জনগণের ওপর বোমাবর্ষণ করে, নিয়মতান্ত্রিক গণহত্যা চালায়, তারা কেবল ভুল নির্দেশনা এবং অতিরঞ্জনের মাধ্যমে বিশ্বকে বিভ্রান্ত করার চেষ্টা করতে পারে। এটি এমন একটি দেশ যা ১৯৭১ সালে অপারেশন সার্চলাইট পরিচালনা করেছিল এবং নিজস্ব সেনাবাহিনী দ্বারা ৪,০০,০০০ নারী নাগরিকের উপর গণহত্যা, গণধর্ষণের একটি পদ্ধতিগত প্রচারণা অনুমোদন করেছিল।"
