নেপালের সাধারণনির্বাচন ও নিরাপত্তা সংক্রান্ত বিষয় নিয়ে আলোচনার জন্য গতকাল বিভিন্ন প্রধান রাজনৈতিক দলের প্রতিনিধিদের সঙ্গে বৈঠক করেন। বালুওয়াটারে প্রধানমন্ত্রীর সরকারীবাসভবনে ওই বৈঠকে নেপালে ভেঙে যাওয়ার প্রতিনিধি সভার বিভিন্ন রাজনৈতিক দলেরবেশকিছু গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সদস্য অংশ নেন। বৈঠকে শ্রীমতী কার্কি অবাধ ও সুষ্ঠু নির্বাচনসুনিশ্চিত করার জন্য রাজনৈতিক নেতৃবৃন্দের সহযোগিতা চান। অন্যদিকে,নেতারাও নির্বাচনের উপযোগী পরিবেশ বজায় রাখার আবেদন জানান।

শ্রীমতী কার্কি তাদেরআশ্বস্ত করেন, অন্তরবর্তী সরকার আইন অনুসারে কাজ করছেন। তিনি আরও জানান, সরকার জেনজি-র আন্দোলনের মূল ভাবধারা বজায় রেখেই আইনের অনুশাসনের মধ্য থেকে কাজ চালিয়ে যাবে।সুষ্ঠু ও শান্তিপূর্ণ নির্বাচনের পাশাপাশি দুর্নীতি সংক্রান্ত তদন্তও সঠিকপথে এগিয়ে চলেছে বলে উল্লেখ করেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী। উল্লেখ্য, ৭৩বছর বয়সী সুশীলা কার্কি গত মাসে নেপালে প্রথম মহিলা প্রধানমন্ত্রী পদে আশিন হন।তার আগে যুব সমাজের নেতৃত্বাধীন জেন জি আন্দোলনের জেরে তৎকালীন প্রধানমন্ত্রী কেপি শর্মা ওলি গদিচ্যুত হন। সামাজিক মাধ্যমের ওপরেও বলবৎ হয় নিষেধাজ্ঞা।
