ভারতীয় সময় সকাল ৭.২০তে প্রবল ভূমিকম্পে কেঁপে উঠল চিলি- আর্জেন্টিনা সীমান্ত অঞ্চল। ন্যাশনাল সেন্টার ফর সিসমোলজির(National Center for Seismology)তথ্য অনুসারে রিখটার স্কেলে ভূমিকম্পের তীব্রতা ছিল ৭.১। ইউ এস জি এস ( United States Geological Survey) এর সূত্র অনুযায়ী চিলির সান পেদ্রো দে আতাকামার ৪১ কিলোমিটার দক্ষিণ-পূর্বে ও ১২৮ কিলোমিটার গভীরে অনুভূত হয়েছিল।
