বরফের দেশ আইসল্যান্ডে প্রবল বিপর্যয়। ইউরোপের বরফে মোড়া এই দেশ টানা ভূমিকম্প হয়েই চলেছে। হিসেব বলছে গত ২৪ ঘণ্টায় আইসল্যান্ডে প্রায় দেড় হাজারের কাছাকাছি ভূমিকম্প হয়েছে। কেঁপেই চলেছে সেখানকার মাটি। একটা সময় মিনিটে ৪১ বার ভূমিকম্প হয় বলে খবর। ভূমিকম্পের জেরে আইসল্যান্ডে বিভিন্ন আগ্নেয়গিরি জাগতে শুরু করার আশঙ্কা তৈরি হয়েছে। সেটা হলে পুরো দেশটা শেষ হয়ে যাবে। আর তাই দেশজুড়ে জারি হয়েছে জরুরী অবস্থা।
দেশের সবচেয়ে বড় শহর তথা রাজধানী রেইকাজভিচের রাস্তায় ফাটল দেখা গিয়েছে। সড়ক যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থা সম্পূর্ণ বিচ্ছিন্ন হওয়ার পথে। এদিকে, থামছে না কম্পন। কিছু জায়গা থেকে আসছে অগ্নুৎপাতের খবর।
