বন্যা বিধ্বস্ত উত্তরবঙ্গের একাংশ। সম্প্রতি ক্ষতিগ্রস্থ এলাকাগুলি খতিয়ে দেখতে উত্তরবঙ্গে গিয়েছন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় (CM Mamata Banerjee)। বুধবার দার্জিলিংয়ে একটি পরিস্থিতি পর্যালোচনা বৈঠকে যোগ দেওয়ার আগে একটি হস্তিশাবকের বিষয়ে জানতে পারেন তিনি। জানা যাচ্ছে, প্লাবিত উত্তরবঙ্গে গত ৫ অক্টোবর কার্শিয়াং বনবিভাগের বনকর্তারা একটি হস্তিশাবককে উদ্ধার করেছিলেন। সেই সময় কিছুটা অসুস্থ থাকায় তাঁকে নজরদারির মধ্যে রাখা হয়। আজ সেই হস্তিশাবককে জলদাপাড়া পিলখানায় স্থানান্তরিক করা হয়। এদিন তাঁরই নামকরণ করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। নাম রাখা হয় ‘লাকি’।
