মহালয়ার পরের দিন, অর্থাৎ প্রতিপদ থেকে নবমী পর্যন্ত ৯ রাত্রি ধরে দেবী দুর্গার নয়টি রূপ ও শক্তির আরাধনা করা হয়. একেই বলে নবরাত্রি ব্রত। আজ শারদ নবরাত্রির (Sharad Navaratri) দ্বিতীয় দিন। আজ পূজিত হন দেবী ব্রহ্মচারিণী। (Goddess Brahmacharini)। দেশের বিভিন্ন মন্দির, শক্তি পীঠ ও সিদ্ধ পীঠে ভক্তরা নবরাত্রির ব্রত পালন করতে সকাল থেকেই ভিড় জমাচ্ছেন।
