কেরালার পর্যটন সেক্টরে নতুন দৃশ্যের সম্ভাবনাকে উন্মোচন করে গতকাল থেকে কোচিতে শুরু হয়েছে রাজ্যের সমুদ্র বিমান প্রকল্পের ট্রায়াল রান। কেরালার পর্যটন মন্ত্রী পি.এ. মহম্মদ রিয়াস কোচি মেরিনায় ব্যাকওয়াটার থেকে সি-প্লেনটিকে পতাকা দিয়ে উড়িয়ে দেন। পরে এটি ইদুক্কি জেলার মাত্তুপেট্টি বাঁধ জলাধারে অবতরণ করে। ১৭ আসনবিশিষ্ট সী প্লেনটির চালানোর দায়িত্বে ছিলেন কানাডিয়ান ক্রু-রা । উড়োজাহাজটি কোচিন আন্তর্জাতিক বিমানবন্দরে ফিরে আসবে এবং জ্বালানি ভরার পর আগত্তিতে যাবে।

সমুদ্র বিমানটি একবার চালু হলে, বিভিন্ন বিমানবন্দরকে সংযুক্ত করে রাজ্যের পর্যটনের ঐতিহ্যকে আরও বাড়িয়ে তুলবে। বিমানের ভিতরে থাকা দর্শকরা পশ্চিম ঘাট এবং পাহাড়ি শহর মুন্নারের অনন্য এবং মনোরম আকাশের দৃশ্য দেখতে পাবে। এমনকি পরিষেবাটি একবার চালু হলে জরুরি অবস্থা এবং ভিআইপি-দের চলাচলের সময় লোকদের সরিয়ে নেওয়ার জন্যও ব্যবহার করা যেতে পারে। কেরালা সরকার মাট্টুপেট্টি, মালাম্পুঝা, ভেম্বানাদ এবং অষ্টমুদি হ্রদ, চন্দ্রগিরি নদী এবং কোভালামের মতো বিভিন্ন জলাশয়কে সংযুক্ত করে একটি পর্যটন সার্কিট গঠনের ধারণা নিয়েও প্রস্তুতি নিচ্ছে।
