প্রায় দুই মাস ধরে ভারতের উত্তর–পূর্বের রাজ্য মণিপুর অগ্নিগর্ভ।দুই মাসের হিংসায় মণিপুর প্রায় গৃহযুদ্ধের রূপ নিয়েছে। নিহত মানুষের সংখ্যা দেড়শ ছুঁই ছুঁই। আহত সহস্রাধিক। শয়ে শয়ে ঘরবাড়ি জ্বালিয়ে–পুড়িয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে। সম্পত্তির ক্ষতির পরিমাণ কত, কোনো আন্দাজ নেই। ৫০ হাজারের বেশি মানুষ শরণার্থী শিবিরে বসবাস করছে। এই পরিস্থিতিতে প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদি মণিপুর সফরে না গেলেও কংগ্রেস নেতা রাহুল গান্ধী দুদিনের (২৯ ও ৩০ জুন) সফরে মণিপুর যাওয়ার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছেন। আজ দিল্লি বিমানবন্দর থেকে মণিপুরের উদ্দেশ্যে তিনি যাত্রা শুরু করেন। জানা গেছে এই দুদিনের সফরে তিনি শরণার্থী শিবিরগুলি পরিদর্শন করবেন এবং ইম্ফল এবং চুরাচাঁদপুরে নাগরিক সমাজের প্রতিনিধিদের সঙ্গে কথা বলবেন।
