১৮৫৭ সালের আগেও আদিবাসী ক্ষেত্র থেকে স্বাধীনতার লড়াই হয়েছে। দাসত্ব, অত্যাচারী শাসক, যন্ত্রণার পরও প্রায় ৪০ কোটি দেশবাসী সেই সময় স্বাধীনতার যুদ্ধ করেছিলেন। আমরা গর্বিত যে আমাদের শরীরে তাদের রক্ত বইছে।
লালকেল্লায় জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলন করে জাতির উদ্দেশ্যে ভাষণে স্বাধীনতা সংগ্রামীদের শ্রদ্ধাঞ্জলী দেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী মোদী।তিনি বলেন- স্বাধীনতার আগের কথা যদি স্মরণ করি, তবে দেখব শতবর্ষের দাসত্বের বিরুদ্ধে অবিরত যুদ্ধ চালিয়েছেন দেশবাসী। ১৮৫৭ সালের আগেও আদিবাসী ক্ষেত্র থেকে স্বাধীনতার লড়াই হয়েছে। দাসত্ব, অত্যাচারী শাসক, যন্ত্রণার পরও প্রায় ৪০ কোটি দেশবাসী সেই সময় স্বাধীনতার যুদ্ধ করেছিলেন। আমরা গর্বিত যে আমাদের শরীরে তাদের রক্ত বইছে। আজ আমরা ১৪০ কোটির দেশ। যদি ৪০ কোটি দাসত্বের বেড়ি ভাঙতে পারে, স্বাধীনতা অর্জন করতে পারে, তাহলে ১৪০ কোটি মানুষ কী করতে পারে, ভাবুন। পায়ে পা মিলিয়ে যদি দেশবাসী এগিয়ে চলে, তবে যাই-ই প্রতিবন্ধকতা থাকুক না কেন, যতই অভাব থাকুক না কেন, আমরা লক্ষ্য অর্জন করতে পারব। বিকশিত ভারতের লক্ষ্য অর্জন করতে পারব, সম্মৃদ্ধ ভারত গড়তে পারব।
