সন্তানের পিতৃত্ব নিয়ে সন্দেহ প্রকাশ করলে, প্রায়শয়ই ডিএনএ পরীক্ষার কথা বলা হয়। এবার বিষয়টি নিয়ে অন্যরকম পর্যবেক্ষণ প্রকাশ করল কেরল হাইকোর্ট। আদালতের তরফে বলা হয়, সন্তানের পিতৃত্ব নিয়ে সন্দেহ দূর করার জন্য ডিএনএ পরীক্ষার নির্দেশ দেওয়া যেতে পারে কিন্তু তা শুধুমাত্র ব্যতিক্রমী ক্ষেত্রে। অর্থাৎ সন্তানের পিতৃত্ব নিয়ে সন্দেহ প্রকাশ করলেই, সেখানে ডিএনএ পরীক্ষার অনুমতি মিলবে না বলে স্পষ্ট জানানো হয়েছে কেরল হাইকোর্টের তরফে।
