একজন মুসলিম (Muslim) মহিলা ব্যক্তিগত আইনের অধীনে অর্থাৎ 'খুলার' মাধ্যমে নিজের বিয়ে ভাঙতে পারেন। অর্থাৎ কোনও মুসলিম মহিলা যদি একতরফাভাবে নিজের বিয়ে ভাঙতে চান, তাহলে তাঁর তালাক দেওয়ার অধিকার রয়েছে। তবে এই ধরনের বিবাহবিচ্ছেদ শুধুমাত্র পারিবারিক আদালত ই মঞ্জুর করতে পারে। এমনই জানানো হয় মাদ্রাজ হাইকোর্টের (Madras High Court ) তরফে।
