কেন্দ্রীয় মন্ত্রীত্ব থেকে ইস্তফা দিয়েছেন মুক্তার আব্বাস নকভি (Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi)। উপরাষ্ট্রপতি নির্বাচনের আগে কেন মুক্তির আব্বাস নকভি কেন মন্ত্রিসভা থেকে ইস্তফা দিলেন, তা নিয়ে রাজনৈতিক মহলে চাপানউতোর শুরু হয়েছে। এসবের মাঝে মুখ খুললেন নাকভি স্বয়ং। প্রাক্তন কেন্দ্রীয় মন্ত্রী বলেন, রাজ্যসভায় তাঁর সাংসদ পদের মেয়াদ ঠিক হচ্ছে ঠিকই কিন্তু তাঁর সামাজিক এবং রাজনৈতিক কাজ শেষ হয়নি। তাই সমাজের জন্য তিনি নিজের কাজ চালিয়ে যেতে চান বলে মন্তব্য করেন নকভি।
