শশী থারুর-কে এই বিষয়ে পাল্টা আক্রমণ করলেন অসমের মুখ্যমন্ত্রী তথা বিজেপি নেতা হিমন্ত বিশ্ব শর্মা। তিরুবন্ততপুরমের কংগ্রেস সাংসদের কায়দায় ইংরেজতে টুইটারে লেখেন, " এই ভদ্রলোকটি অসমের পর এবার ইউপি-র সংস্কৃতিকে ঠাট্টা করছেন।" শশীকে ঘুরিয়ে পাগলামি করার কথা বলেও হিমন্ত লেখেন, "উনি পাগলামির মোহক স্পর্শ করছে, তার মন উচ্চতার স্বপ্নময় অনুভূতির মেঘে অপহৃত।
