বন্যা-কবলিত উত্তর পাপুয়া নিউ গিনিতে তীব্র মাত্রায় আঘাত হানল ভূমিকম্প। রিখটার স্কেলে কম্পনের মাত্রা ৬.৯। রবিবার ভোরে প্রাণঘাতী ভূমিকম্পে মৃতের সংখ্যা ৫। তীব্র কম্পনে এক হাজারের বেশি ঘরবাড়ি ধ্বংস হয়ে গিয়েছে বলে খবর। পূর্ব সেপিকের গভর্নর অ্যালান বার্ড সরকারি বিবৃতি প্রকাশ করে জানান, প্রবল ভূমিকম্পের জেরে প্রায় ১ হাজার ঘরবাড়ি ধ্বংস হয়ে গিয়েছে। ধ্বংসাবশেষ থেকে এখনও উদ্ধার কাজ চলছে।
