ভয়াবহ বন্যায় বিপর্যস্ত মধ্য ইউরোপের দেশগুলিকে এক হাজার কোটি ইউরো আর্থিক সহায়তা দেওয়ার কথা ঘোষণা করেছে ইউরোপীয় কমিশন।কমিশনের প্রধান উরসুলা ভন ডের লিয়েন ( Ursula von der Leyen) গতকাল পোল্যান্ডের শহর রোক্ল-এ পোলিশ প্রধানমন্ত্রী ডোনাল্ড টাস্ক, চেক ও শ্লোভাকিয়ার প্রধানমন্ত্রী ও অস্ট্রিয়ার চ্যান্সেলারের সঙ্গে বৈঠকের পর এই অর্থ সাহায্যের কথা ঘোষণা করেন।দীর্ঘ কয়েক দশকের মধ্যে সবচেয়ে বিধ্বংসী এই বন্যার ক্ষয়ক্ষতি সামাল দিতে দীর্ঘকালীন সহায়তার আশ্বাস দেন ভন ডের লিয়েন। পোল্যান্ডের দক্ষিণ-পশ্চিমাঞ্চল সবচেয়ে বেশি ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছে এই বন্যায়। শহরের পরিকাঠামোর ব্যাপক ক্ষয়ক্ষতি হয়েছে। প্রাণহানির পাশাপাশি সম্পত্তিহানির পরিমাণও বিপুল।
