কৃষ্ণনগরের (Krishnanagar) জনসভায় প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদি (Narendra Modi)। জনসভা থেকে রাজ্যের পরিবহণ ব্যবস্থা নিয়ে বক্তব্য রাখেন তিনি। তাঁর মতে, "রাজ্যের উন্নয়ণে বরাবরই রেল (Eastern Railways) ব্যবস্থা বরাবরই একটি গৌরবময় ইতিহাস বহন করেছে। কিন্তু স্বাধীনতার পর থেকে সেই ঐতিহ্য আর এগোতে পারেনি। আর তাই সময় যত এগিয়েছে বাংলা তত পিছিয়ে গিয়েছে। তবে আমাদের সরকার গত ১০ বছর ধরে রেলকে উন্নত করার চেষ্টা করছি। আগের থেকে ২ গুন বেশি অতিরিক্ত অর্থ বরাদ্দ করা হচ্ছে রেল ব্যবস্থাকে আধুনিকীকরণ করার জন্য"।
