কলকাতা সহ সংলগ্ন এলাকায় ঘূর্ণিঝড় 'ডানা'র (Cyclone Dana) প্রভাব সেভাবে দেখা না গেলেও পশ্চিমবঙ্গের উপকূলীয় অঞ্চলে ব্যাপক তাণ্ডব চলেছে। পূর্ব মেদিনীপুরের (Purba Medinipur) দিঘার সমুদ্র দানবের চেহারা নিয়েছে। বৃহস্পতিবার সারাদিন দিঘার সমুদ্রের জলোচ্ছ্বাস বেড়ে পাড় গিলেছে। ঘূর্ণিঝড় 'ডানা' ল্যান্ডফলের আগেই দিঘা, মন্দারমনি, তাজপুর সংলগ্ন এলাকা পর্যটকশূন্য করার নির্দেশ দিয়েছিল নবান্ন। তবে শুক্রবার সকালের পর থেকে ডানার দাপট কমেছে। শক্তি হারিয়ে সাধারণ ঘূর্ণিঝড়ে পরিণত হয়েছে ডানা। তবে দিঘার সমুদ্র সৈকত এখনও বিপদমুক্ত নয়। বইছে প্রবল বেগে বাতাস। সমুদ্রে বড় বড় ঢেউ উঠছে। প্রশাসনের পক্ষ থেকে মাইকিংয়ের মাধ্যমে সমুদ্র সৈকতের আশেপাশে কাউকে না যাওয়ার অনুরোধ জানানো হচ্ছে।
