প্যারিস অলিম্পিকে সোনা জেতার পর টোকি-তেও রুপো জিতেছেন ভারতের মহাতারকা জ্যাভলিন থ্রোয়ার নীরজ চোপড়া (Neeraj Chopra)। প্যারিস গেমসে ৫০ কেজি ফ্রি স্টাইল কুস্তিতে মাত্র ১০০ গ্রাম ওজন বেশী থাকায় বিনেশ ফোগাট (Vinesh Phogat) ফাইনালে উঠেও বাতিল হয়ে যাওয়া প্রসঙ্গে নীরজ একটা আবেদন করলেন।
অলিম্পিকের জোড়া পদকজয়ী নীরজ বললেন, " বিনেশ ফোগাটের বিষয়ে এখন আবেদনের প্রক্রিয়া চলছে। ও যদি পদক পেয়ে সেটা দারুণ হবে। তখন মানুষ ওকে চ্যাম্পিয়ন বলবে। মানুষ ওকে মনে রাখবে। কিন্তু যদি সেটা না হয়, ও যদি শেষ পর্যন্ত পদক না পায়, তাহলে মানুষ ওকে ভুলে যাবে। আমার এখানেই ভয়। আমরা সবাইকে আবেদন পদক পাক বা না পাক, বিনেশ দেশের জন্য যে লড়াইটা করল, সেটা যেন আমরা ভুলে না যাই। সবাই যেন বিনেশকে মনে রাখে।"
