দক্ষিণ আমেরিকার দেশগুলো এই টুর্নামেন্ট যেখানে ফুটবলের জন্ম হয়েছিল সেখানে ফিরে যাওয়ার আহ্বান জানাচ্ছে। দক্ষিণ আমেরিকার চার দেশ উরুগুয়ে, আর্জেন্টিনা, চিলি ও প্যারাগুয়ে আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে ২০৩০ ফিফা বিশ্বকাপ (FIFA World Cup 2030) আয়োজনের জন্য যৌথ দরপত্র জমা দিয়েছে। তবে ফিফা আগামী বছর ২০৩০ বিশ্বকাপের আয়োজকের নাম ঘোষণা করবে। ২০২৬ সালের প্রতিযোগিতা যুক্তরাষ্ট্র, মেক্সিকো ও কানাডা যৌথভাবে আয়োজন করবে। সেই পদ্ধতি অনুসরণ করেই নির্ধারণ করা হবে ২০৩০ বিশ্বকাপের স্থান। দক্ষিণ আমেরিকার চারটি দেশ স্পেন-পর্তুগালের সাথে মরক্কো ও সৌদি আরবের পৃথক দরপত্রের সাথে প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা করবে।
