কেরলের প্রফেসর টি জে যোসেপের হাত কেটে নেওয়ার ঘটনায় ৬ জনকে দোষী সাবস্ত্য করল এনআইএর বিশেষ আদালত। তবে ঘটনার সঙ্গে জড়িত ৫ জনকে ছেড়ে দিয়েছে আদালত।
ঘটনার ১২ বছর পর দ্বিতীয় পর্যায়ের ট্রায়াল সম্পূর্ণ হল। ঘটনার জেরে ৩১ জনকে প্রাথমিক পর্যায়ে ট্রায়ালে রাখা হয়েছিল এবং পরবর্তীতে ২০১৫ সালে ১৩ জন দোষী সাবস্ত্য হয়।
চার্চের একটি অনুষ্ঠান থেকে ফেরার পথে ইদুক্কি জেলার নিউম্যান কলেজের প্রফেসর টি জে যোজেফের হাত কেটে নেওয়া হয় পপুলার ফ্রন্ট অফ ইন্ডিয়ার বেশ সদস্যের তরফে।তদন্তে মাধ্যমে জানান ধর্মীয় ভাবাবেগে আঘাত দেওয়ার কারণেই এই ধরনের ঘটনা ঘটে তার ওপর।
