প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদী আগামীকাল (৯ সেপ্টেম্বর, ২০২৫, মঙ্গলবার) বন্যা পরিস্থিতি পর্যালোচনা করতে পাঞ্জাব সফর করবেন। ওই রাজ্যে বন্যা দুর্গত মানুষকে যাতে সব ধরণের সহায়তা দেওয়া যায় সেই লক্ষেই প্রধানমন্ত্রী স্থানীয় পরিস্থিতি ব্যক্তিগত ভাবে দেখবেন বলে জানা গেছে। রাজ্য বিজেপির সভাপতি সুনীল জাখোর এক সোশ্যাল মিডিয়া পোস্টে এই খবর জানিয়েছেন। তিনি বলেছেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী পাঞ্জাবের বন্যা পরিস্থিতিতে বিশেষভাবে উদ্বিগ্ন এবং পরিস্থিতির ওপর নজর রাখছেন। ইতিমধ্যে, পাঞ্জাবের পরিস্থিতি ধীরে ধীরে নিয়ন্ত্রণে আসছে। সীমান্তবর্তী এই রাজ্যে এখন পর্যন্ত ৪৬ জন প্রাণ হারিয়েছেন, উদ্ধার ও ত্রাণ কার্যক্রমে ভারতীয় সেনাবাহিনী, বিএসএফ এবং এনডিআরএফের বিশেষজ্ঞদের সাথে সম্মিলিতভাবে একে অপরকে সাহায্য করছে।
পাঞ্জাবের এই বন্যায় প্রায় ২০০০ গ্রাম এবং ৩.৮৭ লক্ষেরও বেশি মানুষ ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছে। কেন্দ্রীয় যুব ও ক্রীড়া মন্ত্রকের শত শত 'আমার ভারত আপদা মিত্র' বন্যা কবলিত জেলাগুলিতে স্থানীয় সম্প্রদায়গুলিকে সহায়তা করছে। রাজ্য সরকার মঙ্গলবার থেকে রাজ্যের সমস্ত শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান খোলার ঘোষণা দিয়েছে, যা নির্দিষ্ট জেলার বর্তমান পরিস্থিতির উপর নির্ভর করে।
