ত্রিপুরায় বহু প্রতিক্ষিত বৈদ্যুতিক ট্রেন চালানোর উদ্যোগ শুরু করল উত্তর-পূর্ব সীমান্ত রেল।দক্ষিণ আসামের বদরপুর স্টেশন এবং ত্রিপুরার জিরানিয়া স্টেশনের মধ্যে বৈদ্যুতিক লোকোমোটিভ সহ প্রথম মালবাহী ট্রেনের পরীক্ষামূলক যাত্রা সফল হয়েছে।বৈদ্যুতিক ইঞ্জিনসহ আরও কয়েকটি পণ্যবাহী ট্রেনের সফল পরিচালনার পর এ রুটে বৈদ্যুতিক লোকোমোটিভ দিয়ে যাত্রীবাহী ট্রেন চলাচল দু-এক মাসের মধ্যে শুরু হবে।
