এই বছর সময়ের আগেই বর্ষা আবির্ভাব হতে চলেছে দেশে। আগামী ২-৩ দিনের মধ্যে কেরলে বর্ষা আসার সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে বলে জানিয়েছে ভারতীয় আবহাওয়া দফতর (IMD)। যার ফলে দক্ষিণ কোঙ্কন, গোয়া, মহারাষ্ট্র এবং উপকূলীয় কর্ণাটকের কিছু অংশে ভারী থেকে অতি ভারী বৃষ্টিপাতের জন্য লাল সতর্কতা জারি করেছে আইএমডি। এছাড়া আসাম, মেঘালয়, নাগাল্যান্ড, মণিপুর, মিজোরাম এবং ত্রিপুরা সহ উত্তর-পূর্ব ভারতের অঞ্চলগুলিতে রবিবার পর্যন্ত ভারী বৃষ্টিপাতের সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে।
আইএমডি বিজ্ঞানী ডঃ আর কে জেনামানি বলেছেন, দক্ষিণ কোঙ্কন-গোয়া উপকূলে পূর্ব মধ্য আরব সাগরে একটি নিম্নচাপ অঞ্চল তীব্রতর হয়ে নিম্নচাপে পরিণত হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে। তিনি আরও বলেন, আগামী দুই থেকে তিন দিনের মধ্যে কেরলে মৌসুমী বায়ুর আগমনের সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে।
ডঃ জেনামানি বলেছেন, ২৭ মে নাগাদ মৌসুমী বায়ু পূর্ব ভারতে পৌঁছবে।
