মহিলাদের নিয়ে বিজেপি সাংসদ দিলীপ ঘোষ (Dilip Ghosh) এবং কংগ্রেস নেত্রী সুপ্রিয়া শ্রীনাথের (Supriya Shrinate) অপমানজনক মন্তব্যের কড়া নিন্দা করল জাতীয় নির্বাচন কমিশন (Election Commission of India)। কমিশনের পক্ষ থেকে বলা হয়েছে, "আদর্শ আচরণ বিধি লাঘু হওয়ার পরেও দুই দলের নেতাদের থেকে এহেন মন্তব্য কাম্য নয়। আদর্শ আচরণ বিধি কখনই ব্যক্তিগত আক্রমণকে প্রশ্রয় দেয় না। নির্বাচনের সময় পর্যন্ত নিজেদের ভাষা সংযত রাখতে হবে। আর এই সময় সকলের বক্তব্য এবং কার্যকলাপের ওপর কড়া নজর রাখবে নির্বাচন কমিশন"।
