এবার থেকে দ্বিতীয়বার বিয়ে করার সময় নিতে হবে সরকারি অনুমোদন। সরকারি অনুমোদন ব্যাতীত কোনও কর্মী দ্বিতীয়বার বিয়ে করতে পারবেন না। হিন্ত বিশ্বশর্মা সরকারের তরফে জারি করা হয় এই নির্দেশিকা। গত ২০ অক্টোবর অসমের যুগ্ম মুখ্যসচিব নীরজ ভর্মা জারি করেন এই নির্দেশিকা। এসবের পাশাপাশি অসমের যে সব মহিলারা সরকারি চাকরি করেন, তাঁরাও এমন কোনও ব্যক্তিকে বিয়ে করতে পারবেন না, যাঁদের প্রথম স্ত্রী জীবিত। সরকারের অনুমতি ব্যাতীত রাজ্য সরকারের কর্মীরা দ্বিতীয়বার যেমন বিয়ের পিঁড়িতে বসতে পারবেন না, তেমনি মহিলারা (রাজ্য সরকারের কর্মী) বিবাহিত পুরুষকে বিয়ে করতে পারবেন না (যাঁদের প্রথম স্ত্রী জীবিত)।
