পচনশীল পণ্যের চালানের সময় লুকিয়ে দেশের মধ্যে অবৈধ ভাবে কোকেন, গাঁজা এবং সিগারেট পাচারের জন্য যুক্তরাজ্যে দুই ভারতীয় বংশোদ্ভূত যুবককে গ্রেফতার করে সাজা দেওয়া হয়েছে।
পচনশীল পণ্যের চালানের সময় লুকিয়ে দেশের মধ্যে অবৈধ ভাবে কোকেন, গাঁজা এবং সিগারেট পাচারের জন্য যুক্তরাজ্যে দুই ভারতীয় বংশোদ্ভূত যুবককে গ্রেফতার করে সাজা দেওয়া হয়েছে। আনন্দ ত্রিপাঠী (৬১) এবং বরুণ ভরদ্বাজ (৩৯) উভয়কেই যথাক্রমে ১৯ বছর এবং ১৫ বছরের কারাদণ্ডে দণ্ডিত করা হয়েছে। নভেম্বর মাসে তারা দোষী সাব্যস্ত হওয়ার পরে আইলওয়ার্থ ক্রাউন কোর্টে ৭১ দিনের বিচারের পরে ক্রাউন প্রসিকিউশন সার্ভিস (সিপিএস) সূত্রে জানা গেছে মাদকের আমদানি থেকে পৃথক তিনটি তারিখে তারা পাচার করা ১৮.৬ মিলিয়ন সিগারেটের আমদানি শুল্ক এবং ভ্যাট বাবদ ৯৭,৭৪,২২০ পাউন্ড পরিশোধ না করার জন্যও তাদের শাস্তি দেওয়া হয়েছে।
