বছরের শুরুতে বিধ্বংসী ভূমিকম্পে কেঁপে ওঠে জাপান (Japan)। বিধ্বংসী ভূমিকম্পের (Earthquake) রেশ কাটতে না কাটতেই জাপানে সুনামি (Tsunami) সতর্কতা জারি করা হয়। ১৫৫বার ভূকম্পেনর মাঝে জাপানে ধেয়ে আসে সুনামি। প্রবল তার মাত্রা না হলেও, জাপানের পরমাণু কেন্দ্রের কাছে সুনামির জেরে ৩ মিটার উঁচু ঢেউ আছড়ে পড়তে শুরু করে। যা রেকর্ডের পর সেই দৃশ্য দেখে ভয়ে শিউরে ওঠে গোটা বিশ্ব। প্রসঙ্গত বছরের শুরুতে জাপানে যে ভূমিকম্প হয়, তার প্রথমবারের মাত্রা ছিল ৭.৫। এরপর কখনও ৬ আবার কখনও তার বেশি বা কম মাত্রায় ১৫৫বার কেঁপে ওঠে জাপান।
