California Passed Anti-Caste Bill: আমেরিকায় প্রথম জাতিবৈষম্য বন্ধের বিল পাস ক্যালিফোর্নিয়ার সেনেটে

মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের অঙ্গরাজ্য ক্যালিফোর্নিয়ার সেনেটে ৩৪-১ ভোটে বিল পাস হয়েছে। এই বিলের মাধ্যমে এ রাজ্যে জাতির ভিত্তিতে বৈষম্যকে অবৈধ ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে। ক্যালিফোর্নিয়া স্টেট অ্যাসেম্বলিতে বিলটি পাস করলে এবং গভর্নর গ্যাভিন নিউসম আইনটিতে স্বাক্ষর করলে জাতির সুরক্ষার জন্য প্রথম রাজ্য হয়ে উঠবে। গত মার্চে সেনেটর আয়েশা ওয়াহাবের এসবি ৪০৩ আইনের সঙ্গে পরিচয় করিয়ে দেন। এই আইন অনুসারে জাতিকে সংরক্ষিত বিভাগ হিসাবে যুক্ত করেছে, যার ফলে ক্যালিফোর্নিয়া রাজ্যের সমস্ত মানুষ পূর্ণ এবং সমান বাসস্থানের অধিকারী, সুযোগ-সুবিধা, অথবা সকল ব্যবসা প্রতিষ্ঠানে সেবা লাভ করবে। ক্যালিফোর্নিয়া স্টেট সিনেটে নির্বাচিত প্রথম আফগান-আমেরিকান ও মুসলিম আয়েশা ওয়াহাব ১০ম জেলার প্রতিনিধিত্ব করছেন। এটি সিয়াটল সিটি কাউন্সিলের এই বছরের শুরুতে জাতিবৈষম্য নিষিদ্ধ করার ঐতিহাসিক আইনকেও অনুসরণ করে।
