আত্মহত্যা রুখতে কলকাতার সব মেট্রো স্টেশনে বসছে 'স্ক্রিন ডোর'। স্টেশনে মেট্রো ঢুকলেই নিজে থেকেই বা অটোমেটিকভাবে খুলে যাবে স্ক্রিন ডোর। আবার ট্রেন চলে গেলেই নিজে থেকেই বন্ধ হবে দরজা।
অবশেষে কলকাতা মেট্রোর স্টেশনগুলিতে স্বয়ংক্রিয় 'স্ক্রিন ডোর' (automatic platform screen doors) বসানো হচ্ছে। আত্মহত্যা রুখতে কলকাতার সব মেট্রো স্টেশনে বসছে 'স্ক্রিন ডোর'। স্টেশনে মেট্রো ঢুকলেই নিজে থেকেই বা অটোমেটিকভাবে খুলে যাবে স্ক্রিন ডোর। আবার ট্রেন চলে গেলেই নিজে থেকেই বন্ধ হবে দরজা। তাতে আর মরণঝাঁপের সুযোগ থাকছে না। কলকাতা মেট্রোয় স্ক্রিন ডোর সবানোর দাবি দীর্ঘদিনের। কাজের দিন কাজের সময় হঠাত মরণঝাঁপ। ব্যস, তাতেই নিত্যযাত্রীদের মাথায় হাত। মেট্রো হল কলকাতার লাইফলাইন। সেই লাইফলাইন কয়েক ঘণ্টা বন্ধ থাকা মানে অবরুদ্ধ শহর।
মেট্রোরও লোকসান অনেক। সেটা বন্ধ করতেই এই উদ্যোগ। অনেক চেষ্টার পরেও কলকাতা মেট্রোয় আত্মহত্যার ঘটনা বন্ধ করা যায়নি। আর তাই মেট্রোর সব স্টেশনে স্ক্রিন ডোর বসানোর উদ্যোগ।
