বাংলা ভাষাকে প্রাচীন ভাষার মর্যাদা দেওয়া হবে। কেন্দ্রীয় মন্ত্রিসভায় এই প্রস্তাব পাশ হওয়ার পর থেকে খুশি আপামর বাঙালিরা। যদিও এই নিয়ে তৃণমূল সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে এখনও কোনও প্রতিক্রিয়া না এলেও বিজেপি নেতৃত্ব কিন্তু এই ঘোষণার পর বেশ উৎসাহিত। এদিন রাজ্য বিজেপির সভাপতি তথা কেন্দ্রীয় মন্ত্রী সুকান্ত মজুমদার (Sukanta Majumdar) বলেন, "আজকের দিনটি ঐতিহাসিক দিন হিসেবে চিহ্নিত হল, কারণ বাংলা ভাষা সহ ৫টি ভাষাকে প্রাচীন ভাষার মর্যাদা দিয়েছে কেন্দ্র সরকার। এরজন্য প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদীকে (PM Narendra Modi) অসংখ্য ধন্যবাদ। বাংলা ভাষা ও সংস্কৃতি নিয়ে প্রধানমন্ত্রী ভাবেন, এটা তারই প্রমাণ। রাজ্যের মানুষদের পক্ষ থেকে প্রধানমন্ত্রী মোদী সহ সমগ্র মন্ত্রিসভাকে এর জন্য অসংখ্য ধন্যবাদ"।
