নতুন বছর উদযাপনে বহু মানুষ আজ সকালে কলকাতার ভিক্টোরিয়া মেমোরিয়ালে (Victoria Memorial) পৌঁছেছেন।
কলকাতা: আজ বছরের প্রথম দিন। নতুন বছর উদযাপনে বহু মানুষ আজ সকালে কলকাতার ভিক্টোরিয়া মেমোরিয়ালে (Victoria Memorial) পৌঁছেছেন। ব্রিটিশ শাসনকালে ভারতের রাজধানী ছিল কলকাতা। ইংল্যান্ডের রানি ভিক্টোরিয়া তখন ভারতেরও সম্রাজ্ঞী। তাঁর মৃত্যুর পর ভারতীয় উপনিবেশে তাঁর স্মৃতি সৌধ তৈরির সিদ্ধান্ত নেন ব্রিটিশ শাসকরা। রানি ভিক্টোরিয়ার নামে স্মৃতিসৌধ ভিক্টোরিয়া মেমোরিয়াল তৈরি হয় ১৯০১ সালে। ভিক্টোরিয়া মেমোরিয়াল বলতেই চোখের সামনে ভেসে ওঠে সাদা পরী, যুগল আর সবুজে ঘেরা বাগান। ভিক্টোরিয়া মেমোরিয়ালের সৌন্দর্য উপভোগ করতে প্রায় গোটা বছরই মানুষ ভিড় জমান, তবে আজ নতুন বছর উপলক্ষে সকাল থেকেই বহু সংখ্যক মানুষ ভিক্টোরিয়ার সামনে ভিড় জমিয়েছেন।
