শ্রীলঙ্কার প্রাক্তন ওপেনার উপুল থারাঙ্গাকে (Upul Tharanga) শ্রীলঙ্কা ক্রিকেটের নির্বাচক কমিটির নতুন চেয়ারম্যান করা হয়েছে। ৩৮ বছর বয়সী থারাঙ্গা, দিলরুয়ান পেরেরা (Dilruwan Perera), ইন্ডিকা ডি সারাম (Indika de Saram), থারাঙ্গা পারানাভিটানা (Tharanga Paranavitana) ও প্রাক্তন স্পিনার অজন্তা মেন্ডিসকে (Ajantha Mendis) নিয়ে পাঁচ সদস্যের কমিটির নেতৃত্ব দেবেন। সাম্প্রতিক ওয়ানডে বিশ্বকাপে শ্রীলঙ্কার খুবই খারাপ পারফরম্যান্সের পর এই পরিবর্তন এসেছে। ৯ ম্যাচে মাত্র ২টি জয় ও ৭টি হারের ফলে নবম স্থানে রয়েছে তারা। বিশ্বকাপে তাদের খারাপ ফর্মের কারণে আইসিসি চ্যাম্পিয়ন্স ট্রফি ২০২৫-এ খেলার সুযোগও হাতছাড়া হয়েছে। রাজনৈতিক হস্তক্ষেপের কারণে শ্রীলঙ্কা ক্রিকেটকে সাসপেন্ড করে আইসিসি। এই সিদ্ধান্তের ফলে অনূর্ধ্ব-১৯ বিশ্বকাপ শ্রীলঙ্কা থেকে সরিয়ে নেওয়া হয়েছে। NZ Squad, U19 World Cup: আসন্ন অনূর্ধ্ব-১৯ ক্রিকেট বিশ্বকাপের দল ঘোষণা নিউজিল্যান্ডের
