আগামীকাল (শুক্রবার, ১২ সেপ্টেম্বর) ধনখড়ের উত্তরসূরি হিসাবে উপরাষ্ট্রপতি পদে শপথ নেবেন সি পি রাধাকৃষ্ণন (Newly elected Vice President CP Radhakrishnan)। কে শপথবাক্য পাঠ করাবেন রাষ্ট্রপতি দ্রৌপদী মুর্মু (President Draupadi Murmu)। রাষ্ট্রপতি ভবনে আয়োজিত শপথগ্রহণ অনুষ্ঠানে রাধাকৃষ্ণণকে শপথবাক্য পাঠ করাবেন তিনি।
মঙ্গলবার নতুন সংসদ ভবনে আয়োজিত উপরাষ্ট্রপতি নির্বাচনে জয়লাভ করেন ৬৭ বছর বয়সী রাধাকৃষ্ণন। বিরোধীদের প্রার্থী অবসরপ্রাপ্ত বিচারপতি বি সুদর্শন রেড্ডিকে ১৫২ ভোটের ব্যবধানে পরাজিত করেন রাধাকৃষ্ণন। গত ২১ জুলাই জগদীপ ধনখড়ের আকস্মিক পদত্যাগের কারণেই এই নির্বাচনের প্রয়োজন পড়ে।
