বিজেপি জোট ছাড়ার প্রসঙ্গে নীতীশ কুমার জানিয়েছেন, "জনগণের ইচ্ছেতেই জেডিইউ আজ এনডিএ জোট থেকে বেরিয়ে এসেছে। এনিয়ে দলের মধ্যেও নিজেরা আলাপ আলোচনা করেছেন। নির্বাচনের সময়েও জয়ী প্রার্থীরা জানিয়েছেন তাঁদের বিজেপি কোনওভাবে সমর্থন করেনি। আবার পরাজিত প্রার্থীরা বলেছেন তাঁরা বিজেপির জন্যই হেরে গেছেন। তাই জেডিইউ-র নিরাপত্তার কথা ভেবেই তিনি এই সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছি।"
